Drug deal at South Fulton park thwarted

SOUTH FULTON — The South Fulton Police Department reports a drug deal was busted by a park ranger at a local park Saturday.

Police say as the Park Ranger Unit was patrolling Cliftondale Park, a felony drug sale was thwarted. Several suspects took off running; however, one suspect was taken into custody.

Nearly two ounces of marijuana was seized, along with ammunition and cash. Two vehicles were also impounded.

Further investigation revealed the incident is gang-related. Police officials say several homicides within the city have been drug and gang-related, and the police department will continue to combat these issues.

“Our parks in the city of South Fulton are family friendly environments, and unlawful drug usage and sales will not be tolerated,” the police department said in a Facebook post.
