Georgia elementary school student had gun at school

Parents in Columbia County were on high alert today after a student at an elementary school was found with a firearm at school.

Columbia County School District officials said during a routine check this morning, a Baker Place Elementary student was found to be in possession of an unloaded firearm and a gun magazine.

Law enforcement was immediately notified and the investigation is ongoing.

“We are thankful to report that there was no indication of any threat to other students or faculty,” the school system said in a statement,
