One dead in Gwinnett County double shooting

LAWRENCEVILLE — The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a double shooting that happened around 3a.m., that resulted in the death of one person.

Police were called to the 2000 block of Wheylon Drive in Lawrenceville after a woman called to report that multiple people had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found a dead man in front of the residence.  The man appeared to have been shot at least one time. Police found a woman who had also been shot. Her injuries were non-life threatening.

Detectives responded to the location and believe that the shooting was the result of a domestic incident. Gwinnett County police officials say they believe the two people were familiar with each other and one person has been taken into custody. The names of everyone involved are being withheld until the next of kin is notified.
