An 84-year-old Bibb County woman died after her home caught fire just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and Macon-Bibb Fire Department responded to a house fire located at 8925 Thomaston Road after a passerby reported the house fire. When the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department arrived they were able to extinguish the fire. Firefighters inspected the home and discovered Mary Frances Stenson, the homeowner, was dead inside the residence.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. An autopsy will be performed to confirm the cause of death.
