The old Rogers Bridge crossing over the Chattahoochee River will be restored, bringing a new pedestrian corridor across the river.
The restoration is thanks to an agreement between Gwinnett County, Fulton County, Duluth and Johns Creek.
Each partner will contribute an estimated $350,000 in matching funds toward the construction of the project. These funds will meet the matching requirements from the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Atlanta Regional Commission.
Under a previous agreement, each partner also contributed matching funds for the preliminary engineering on the project.
The city of Duluth is managing this restoration, which is in the preliminary engineering phase.
Gwinnett County District 1 Commissioner Jace Brooks said this is a great example of cooperation between governments to make great things happen for their residents. “This pedestrian bridge will connect two counties and two cities and augment the recreation opportunities available to individuals and families in those communities.”
