ELLIJAY — Much like many families throughout the nation, the City of Ellijay has an Elf on the Shelf. The city’s resident holiday mischief maker is named Stitches, and his most recent act of holiday foolery may have landed him on the Ellijay Police Department’s naughty list.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, Stitches was caught on camera vandalizing the sign in front of the police department.

“Never before seen scene footage from security cameras caught Stitches in an act of revenge for officers’ intervention in his attack on the Christmas tree. We can’t confirm this detail, but we also believe that this may be a personal attack on Sgt. Mashburn, who, while short in stature, is NOT an escaped elf,” the department’s Facebook page read.

What was Stitches Crime?

He took a pair of scissors and fashioned an F out of paper and turned Ellijay into Elfijay.

We’ll keep you posted on further acts of vandalism and other crimes by this Christmas-seasoned criminal.
