Arrest made in fatal hit and run in Norcross

NORCROSS — The driver in Saturday’s hit and run pedestrian fatality has been arrested.  The vehicle was recovered at 745 Beaver Ruin Road yesterday afternoon. It had damage consistent to the incident. 

Investigators were able to track down the driver who was on her way to turn herself in to the South Precinct.

According to police, 32-year-old Brittany Amber Ashley of Stone Mountain has been arrested. She has been charged with one count of Hit and Run (Death) and one count of Homicide by Vehicle.

Police say shortly before midnight Saturday, officers responded to a call in reference to a man lying in the road on Beaver Ruin Road in unincorporated Norcross. 

The caller said it appeared the man had been struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived they located a man, later identified as 38-year-old Kevin Brown of Norcross. Brown was unresponsive in the roadway and was transported to an area hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
