FORSYTH COUNTY — On June 6, 2019 at approximately 10:08 PM, Forsyth County Deputies responded to what a caller described as a baby crying in the woods near Daves Creek Road.

Shortly after deputies arrived on scene they located a newborn female infant that had been abandoned in a wooded area along Daves Creek Road.

The infant was found inside of a plastic bag. Deputies immediately rendered first aid and
the infant was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition.

The Department of Family and Children Services was also notified and sent a representative to the hospital to act as an advocate for the baby.

Hospital staff have named the baby India.

This case is currently under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit. Investigators are asking the public’s assistance in locating the infant’s mother.

Police are asking anyone who knows a female who was in the late stages of pregnancy and may have given birth to this infant to contact the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 770-781- 3087.
