Grindhouse Killer Burgers faces shortage of popular vegetarian burger

ATLANTA — Grindhouse Killer Burgers announced Wednesday that it will face sporadic outages of the Impossible Burger until the supplier works out production issues.

Until the shortage is resolved, the restaurant is encouraging its fans to call ahead to see if their restaurant has the meat in stock.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and understand we have some big Impossible Burger fans. Stay tuned and stay strong, the menu offering should be available on a regular basis very soon,” said Grindhouse Killer Burger Owner, Alex Brounstein.

Grindhouse Killer Burger first brought the celebrated Impossible Burger to Atlanta as the product hit the market in 2016.

The much-hyped Impossible Burger was the first of its kind – a vegan burger with the meaty taste of the real thing. The plant-based patty is made of water, plant proteins, coconut oil and heme.

The craze over the meatless burger has increased demand for the product so much that the California-based manufacturer, Impossible Foods, is having trouble keeping up. Impossible Foods currently services over 7,000 restaurants and recently partnered with Burger King, placing an undeniable strain on the company.

In a statement, Impossible officials said that it “recognizes the inconvenience that this shortage is causing and sincerely apologizes to all customers, particularly those who have come to depend on the additional foot traffic and revenue that the Impossible Burger has generated.”

Impossible added that it is not facing a shortage of the ingredients it uses to make the plant-based meat.

Lee said he is confident that Impossible will ultimately be able to meet the demand. The company is “not sparing any expense” to keep up, stated Lee. “We absolutely will continue fundraising.”
