45-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash in Vidalia

A Vidalia woman died Friday night after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 280 near East First Street.

Police identified the victim as 45-year-old Melissa Foskey.

According to a statement released by the Vidalia Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 8:42 p.m. Emergency responders treated Foskey at the scene before transporting her to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle was a 39-year-old man Vidalia man. No details about the cause of the crash or whether charges will be filed have been released.
