Coronavirus Cases on the Rise in Alpharetta

ALPHARETTA -- Coronavirus cases in the city of Alpharetta are on the rise. The city has seen an increase in cases over the last five days and ihas the second highest infection rate of any city in Fulton County, including Atlanta.

ALPHARETTA — Coronavirus cases in the city of Alpharetta are on the rise. The city has seen an increase in cases over the last five days and ihas the second highest infection rate of any city in Fulton County, including Atlanta.

Milton currently has the highest infection rate.

Alpharetta, Milton, Johns Creek, and Sandy Springs are all seeing increases in COVID-19 cases. All other Fulton cities are seeing decreases.

According to reports released by Fulton County, Alpharetta has seen a 36% increase in COVID-19 cases between August 5 and Sept. 2, the highest increase of any city in Fulton County.

City officials are encouraging residents to social distance, wear a mask and wash their hands frequently.

The city has had 1,050 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Fulton County has a total of 25,934 confirmed cases, 550 deaths and 2,232 hospitalizations. Statewide, Georgia has reported 289,123 cases of coronavirus, 26,062 hospitalizations and 4,776 ICU admissions. According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, 6,204 people have died from the virus in Georgia.

The number of cases statewide is decreasing. As of Thursday, the 7-day average for new cases reported was 1,743, which is down from the state’s peak on July 24 which was 3,753.
