Rassoloman Davis, 38, of Lithonia, has been sentenced to life in prison following his conviction for a brutal assault on his ex-girlfriend. The jury handed down the verdict on Thursday in DeKalb County Superior Court, where Davis was found guilty of multiple charges, including rape, home invasion, aggravated assault, kidnapping with bodily injury, and false imprisonment.

The Details: The incident occurred on July 3, 2016, when Davis broke into the home of his former girlfriend in the early hours of the morning. The woman awoke to a masked intruder pressing a knife to her neck. As she struggled to free herself, she managed to pull off the mask, revealing Davis as the attacker.

According to prosecutors, Davis then dragged the woman downstairs, where he used zip ties to bind her arms behind her back and secured her to a dining room chair. He gagged her before tipping the chair backward and raping her.

After the assault, Davis cut the victim free, changed his clothes, and gave her $80, demanding she not contact the police. As soon as he left, the woman called 911, leading to his eventual arrest.

In Court: The trial, presided over by Judge Brian Lake, culminated in Davis’ conviction on charges of rape, home invasion in the first degree, two counts of aggravated assault, kidnapping with bodily injury, and false imprisonment. Following the verdict, Judge Lake sentenced Davis to life in prison.
