CHICKAMAUGA — Firefighters in Walker County responded to an early morning fire at a local landfill.
Walker County spokesman Joe Legge said material that had been brought to the landfill on Tuesday flared up in the construction and demolition section. This section of the landfill houses building waste such as lumber, glass and brick.
The fire began at about 2 a.m.
Firefighters with Walker County Fire Rescue used about 35,000 gallons of water to contain the blaze, which covered about a fourth of an acre.
