Too Much Celebrating? How To Get a Ride Home from AAA Over The July 4th Holiday

Start

As AAA anticipates assisting nearly 800,000 drivers nationwide with car trouble during the week of July 4th, it will also offer a free service to keep impaired drivers off the road. The Auto Club Group is launching its Tow to Go program in Georgia and other select states, providing a safe ride for would-be impaired drivers and their vehicles.

🚗 The Details: The Tow to Go program has been a staple of AAA for over 25 years, removing nearly 30,000 impaired drivers from U.S. roadways. From 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd to 6 a.m. on Monday, July 8th, this free and confidential service will be available to both AAA members and non-members. When called, a tow truck will transport the driver and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.

📊 By The Numbers:

  • Over 25 years of service
  • Nearly 30,000 impaired drivers removed from roads
  • Active from 6 p.m. on July 3rd to 6 a.m. on July 8th
  • Service available in 12 states and select cities

📋 Guidelines:

  • Free service from 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 3rd to 6 a.m. Monday, July 8th
  • Available to AAA members and non-members
  • Confidential local ride for one person and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius
  • Not available for appointments; designed as a safety net for unplanned situations
  • Potential unavailability in rural areas or during severe weather conditions

💡 Why It Matters: Independence Day celebrations often involve alcohol, increasing the risk of impaired driving. By providing a reliable and free service, AAA helps ensure the safety of all road users, reducing the potential for accidents and saving lives.

🛡️ What You Can Do: Plan ahead. Always designate a sober driver before celebrations. If plans fall through, use Tow to Go as a last resort to ensure a safe return home.

🔜 What’s Next?: Look out for future announcements from AAA regarding holiday safety initiatives and expanded service areas for Tow to Go.
