Nathaniel Frazier, nation’s #1 running back, sets commitment date: Is UGA the favorite?

Start

Eight of the nation’s top nine running backs have already announced their commitments in the class of 2024.

The lone remaining holdout?

Mater Dei (California) ball-carrier Nathaniel Frazier, the nation’s top running back.

But he won’t remain undecided much longer.

On. Saturday, the 5-foot-10, 210-pound athlete set an August 6 commitment date and announced a final four of Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Texas A&M.

He will announce his decision at noon/3 p.m. ET at Mater Dei High School.

While Frazier officially visited both Alabama and Oregon in June, it was his unofficial trip to Athens that seemed to be a real difference maker, as Georgia quickly established itself as the team-to-beat.

Since that time, the Bulldogs appear to have gained all of the recruiting momentum in Frazier’s recruitment, and picked up multiple predictions across various recruiting sites.

What would the Bulldogs be getting?

As a junior, Frazier carried the ball 61 times for 791 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 11.4 yards per carry.

Here’s what On3 had to say about Frazier, in part, as a prospect:

““Dynamic every down back with projectable size and home run ability. …Frazier has some of the best long speed among top running backs in the 2024 cycle …Explodes through the hole and consistently defeats defenders’ angles as an outside runner. … Frazier runs with outstanding pace. Makes defenders miss at a high rate, with lateral agility. Side-steps tacklers in confined spaces. Runs with high-level contact balance. Stays grounded on contact and spins out of tackles. Dangerous in the screen game and has upside as a pass catcher given his showings on the camp circuit.”

Overall, Georgia’s 2024 recruiting class is rated No. 1 nationally and consists of three players rated No. 1 at the nation at their respective positions – Buford (Georgia) quarterback Dylan Raiola, IMG Academy (Florida) cornerback Ellis Robinson IV and Oak Ridge (Texas) linebacker Justin Williams.

Frazier would be the fourth such addition.

Will it happen? Georgia fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
