Join the World's Largest Swim Lesson and Protect Your Child from Drowning

The Cherokee County Aquatic Center will be one of the host locations for The World’s Largest Swim Lesson on June 22.

This global event is expected to draw tens of thousands of participants from aquatic centers, swim schools, and waterparks across the world. The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. and interested individuals can participate with paid admission to The Oasis.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, drowning has become the leading cause of unintended death for children ages 1-4 in the U.S. This has made teaching water safety to all age groups a priority for the Cherokee County Aquatic Center.

“This event allows us to bring in a larger number of individuals at once to show them what water safety is all about and why it’s so important,” said aquatic center manager Tom McGerty.

Parents who want to learn more about the event are encouraged to visit WLSL.org, while advanced registration for the World’s Largest Swim Lesson is also encouraged. Cherokee County has world-class parks and recreational facilities, is a destination for corporate headquarters, and boasts a population of over 279,000 people.
