Westmont Elementary School in Columbia County will get a brand new facility.

The Columbia County Board of Education approved a proposal Tuesday to replace the current Westmont Elementary building, with a new facility.

School officials say as the district continues to work through this process, more information will be made available to ensure a smooth transition.

“We are excited for what the future holds for students and staff at Westmont Elementary and the community,” said Dr. Steven Flynt, Superintendent of Schools. “Replacing this aging structure, built in 1970, will allow the academic success of Westmont to continue for many more students and generations of families to come.”
