29-year-old Buford man arrested on child exploitation charges

BUFORD — A 29-year-old Buford man was arrested on two counts of Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Thursday.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Evan Charles Rider was arrested after Rider allegedly engaged in a sexually explicit online chat with who he believed to be a juvenile.

The investigation into Rider’s conduct was conducted by the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit. Rider was arrested by the Gwinnett County Police Department and is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail.

This investigation is part of the ongoing effort by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, housed within the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, to identify those involved in the child pornography trade and those involved in the sexual exploitation of children. The program was created by the U. S. Department of Justice, was developed in response to the increasing number of children and teenagers using the Internet, the proliferation of child pornography, and the heightened online activity by predators searching for unsupervised contact with underage victims.

Anyone with information about this case or any other cases of child exploitation is asked to contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Unit at 404-270-8870.
