Health officials are warning consumers to avoid Diamond Shruumz-brand chocolate bars, cones, and gummies due to numerous reports of severe illness linked to undisclosed psychoactive compounds in these products. These edibles, often marketed as appealing snacks, pose serious health risks, particularly to children and teenagers.
Despite a recall, some Diamond Shruumz products remain available online and at hemp retailers, tobacco, and vape shops. Officials urge consumers to discard any purchased items immediately and advise retailers to remove them from shelves.
As of July 8, authorities have reported 58 illnesses across 27 states, with several cases under investigation in Georgia. More than half of the affected individuals required hospitalization, and one potentially related death is under review. Symptoms include hallucinations, uncontrolled movements, cardiovascular irregularities, gastrointestinal issues, seizures, and respiratory failure.
Consumers experiencing symptoms after consuming Diamond Shruumz products should seek immediate medical attention or contact the Georgia Poison Center. Healthcare providers should report related illnesses to the center.
The investigation continues to uncover additional cases. For further information, visit the FDA or CDC websites.
