Looking ahead this week, the National Weather Service predicts scattered to numerous thunderstorms will be possible each afternoon and evening across the forecast area this week.

Isolated storms could become strong, capable of producing gusty winds and frequent lightning.

Heavy rainfall associated with these storms could also lead to localized flash flooding concerns.

In terms of temperature, this week will be cooler with highs Monday near 85 degrees. Highs are not expected to reach 90 degrees this week, but high humidity could push the heat index higher.

What is the Heat Index?: The heat index refers to what the temperature feels like when the air temperature is combined with relative humidity. The thermometer in your car may report 90 degree temperatures, but the humidity means that to your body, it will feel like it is over 100 degrees. The heat index is sometimes called the “apparent temperature.”
