Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream will give away free ice cream to celebrate its 20th anniversary and National Ice Cream Day on July 19.

Customers can visit participating locations between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. to receive a free scoop of the company’s special anniversary flavor, “The Big Blast.”

“National Ice Cream Day gives us a reason to thank our communities, franchisees, and fans who have supported us from day one and show our appreciation to them,” said founder Jerry Hancock. “Twenty years in, we’re just getting started.”

The Big Blast combines cotton candy ice cream with marshmallows and Pop Rocks candy, creating a colorful treat for the celebration.

Sub Zero uses liquid nitrogen at -321°F to flash-freeze custom ice cream orders on the spot. This process, patented in 2005, allows the company to make personalized desserts that accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies.

The company began as a single shop in Utah and has grown into a nationwide franchise. Many current franchise owners were first customers who became fans of the concept, which gained additional attention after appearing on ABC’s Shark Tank in 2013.
