A DeKalb County school teacher was arrested in Gwinnett County on multiple charges involving sexual contact with a child, authorities said.
Marcus Knight, 49, of Lawrenceville, was taken into custody after an investigation by the Gwinnett County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit. The investigation began on Sept. 3 when the victim’s mother discovered sexually explicit messages between her 14-year-old child and an unknown man. She contacted police immediately.
The Details: Detectives, posing as the teenager, arranged a meeting with the suspect. Knight arrived at the agreed-upon location, where he was arrested without resistance. Police said Knight was in possession of several high-level THC vape cartridges at the time of his arrest.
Knight is currently being held at Gwinnett County Jail without bond. He faces several charges, including aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, and obscene internet contact with a child. Investigators said additional charges could be forthcoming as the case develops. Police confirmed that the child involved is not a student at the school where Knight taught.
