The Gist: A 53-year-old resident of DeKalb County faces a federal indictment for allegedly destroying an ATM in Decatur’s North DeKalb Mall and possessing illegal explosives.
According to prosecutors, Abdurrahim Jalal took about $88,000 from the machine’s vault after the explosion.
The Details: On March 29, at approximately 3:11 a.m., an explosion rocked the Bank of America ATM at North DeKalb Mall. Abdurrahim Jalal is accused of causing the explosion and subsequently taking the money from the machine’s vault. Prosecutors say a search of his home revealed additional explosive devices.
