The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office has announced a free gun safety class scheduled for Saturday, April 20, aimed at enhancing gun safety and knowledge among the community members. This educational initiative is exclusively available to Bartow County residents who are 18 years or older and have not previously attended this training with the department.

The half-day session, running from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., is designed to accommodate up to 25 participants, emphasizing the importance of early registration due to its first-come, first-served policy. Attendees will undergo a mandatory background check before their admission to the class is confirmed, ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all involved.

During the class, certified instructors will cover a range of critical topics including Georgia’s carry laws, the principles of use of force, and comprehensive gun safety practices. Practical instruction will also be provided at the department’s range, where participants will learn the basics of weapon handling, including loading, unloading, and limited shooting exercises.

Beth Tidwell, the point of contact for interested residents, is available to provide further information and facilitate the registration process. Prospective attendees can reach out to her directly via phone (382-5050 ext. 6771) or email (bethtidwell@bartow.org) to request the necessary paperwork. Additionally, registration forms can be picked up in person at the Sheriff’s Office from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

This initiative reflects the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to promoting responsible gun ownership and enhancing public safety through education.
