ATLANTA — The city of Atlanta is preparing to pay tribute to the late Marvin S. Arrington Sr., an iconic leader who served as Atlanta City Council President and Fulton County Superior Court Judge. Funeral services have been scheduled to honor his remarkable life and legacy.

On Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the public will have an opportunity to say their final goodbyes to Arrington as he lies in state inside the Atlanta City Council chamber, located at Atlanta City Hall on 55 Trinity Avenue SW.

The Council chamber was named in his honor in 2019, a lasting testament to his impact. Tributes will take place at noon, celebrating his extraordinary contributions.

A celebration of life ceremony will follow on Friday at 11 a.m., held at Ebenezer Baptist Church on 101 Jackson Street NE.

The service will be broadcasted live on the city council’s website, social media platforms, and Channel 26, enabling everyone to pay their respects and honor Arrington’s memory.

Marvin S. Arrington Sr. was a beloved figure within the Atlanta community and beyond.
