Cobb County teens can earn cash by turning recyclables into art projects

The Gist: Attention teen artists! The clock is ticking, but there’s still opportunity to dig into the recycling bin and turn trash into a treasure for Cobb County’s Teen Summer Recycling Craft Competition.

The competition is not just for bragging rights, winners will earn cash prizes.

What Happened?: Keep Cobb Beautiful has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging teens in grades 6-12 to create unique artwork entirely from recycled materials.

By The Numbers:

  • $100 for the 1st place winner.
  • $75 goes to the 2nd place.
  • The 3rd place artist will earn $50.
  • $25 is the prize for the 4th place winner.

Why It Matters: This contest not only encourages artistic expression among the youth, but also promotes an environmentally conscious mindset. It’s a creative nudge toward sustainability, teaching that one person’s trash can indeed be another’s treasure.

What’s Next?: The competition is slated for 2 p.m., Monday, July 24, at Switzer Library. Young artists, don’t dawdle – it’s time to register and start your creative engines! Visit this link to sign up.
