A Calhoun man was arrested after a chase that started out as a car chase until the driver fled the vehicle on foot Monday.
According to the Gordon County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy sheriff attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle on Interstate 75 in southern Gordon County.
The vehicle immediately fled and a pursuit involving a number of deputies as well as the State Patrol ensued. The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Fabian Capistran, of Calhoun, exited the Interstate and led officers over a number of secondary roads and eventually onto Hopkins Drive in northern Bartow County.
Although Capistran abandoned his car and fled on foot into a wooded area, he was quickly apprehended by deputies who also had K9s.
He was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the county jail, charged with Felony Fleeing/Attempting to Elude Peace Officers as well as a number of traffic-related charges and misdemeanor drug possession.
