STONE MOUNTAIN — Gwinnett County Firefighters responded at 3:13 p.m. to a report of a car being driven into the Goodwill store at Rockbridge Road SW in Stone Mountain.

The caller to 9-1-1 reported that a car went into the building.

According to fire officials, crews arrived at Goodwill to find a vehicle that had driven through the glass and aluminum beams of the store.

The Incident Commander reported the impact with the concrete wall at the back of the business brought the vehicle to a complete stop. The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries nor did any customers or employees of the store.

Paramedics arrived and performed a thorough head-to-toe assessment on the driver and determined that no life threatening injuries existed.

As a precaution, the driver was transported, non-emergency, to the hospital for further evaluation.

Firefighters assessed the building and determined that its structural integrity remained intact so shoring provided by the Technical Rescue Team was not requested. Personnel remained on scene until the power could be secured by Walton EMC.
