Two Georgia teenagers are without their home and their father after a mobile home fire in Tennille.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Feb. 27, the Tennille Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire located on Booker T. Washington Street in Tennille. Once fire personnel arrived on scene, the mobile home was heavily engulfed by the blaze.
Two male children aged 16 and 17 years old were able to escape the home, but their father, Charles Edward Brown, 64, was found on the floor in the kitchen by firefighters after extinguishment.
Arrangements were made to have the body sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy and positive identification.
The origin of the fire was deemed to be in a bedroom, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The 1978 Fleetwood Mobile Home was completely destroyed by the fire. No smoke detectors were found in the home.
Investigators in the Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office are assisting the Tennille Volunteer Fire Department, Tennille Police Department, and Washington County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation.
In 2019, fire has claimed the lives of 12 Georgians.
