A hit and run accident (from what I understand) happened on i20 in Douglas/Carroll county on Tuesday. Not one mention, not one news article, not even an obituary for a man I called a friend. Sad, it seems the world already forgot him as if he didn’t exist and do you know why I think that might be??? Because he was a homeless addict who struggled with his mental health at times. A transient. A man so many never even noticed. He was kind. He was intelligent. He was funny. He was charismatic. He was helpful. He was many things, yes including homeless addict… But I wouldn’t have even known if it weren’t for his gf letting me know. I didn’t even believe her at first bc there’s just nothing at all to inform the public that we should be looking for a vehicle involved in this fatal and heartbreaking incident. It hurts my heart to know that if it were most anyone else, they wouldve had at least a mention or news clip or obit or anything. I know it’s not your fault. But can u help me to understand why it’s just being swept under the rug or not brought to light for most of us to know about or why he wasn’t as important as the other pedestrians that were hit and killed this week too that got articles or whatever … Bc I’m really having a hard time with this
