Snow Update: North Georgia expected to see snow this weekend

The weather forecast for this weekend has — predictably — changed. Earlier today, The National Weather Service forecast called for snow as far South as Macon on Saturday night, but the forecast now calls for snow only in the mountain elevations of North Georgia with 2 to 4 inches of rain South of that.

Middle and East Central Georgia residents can expect scattered light rain showers to continue throughout the night tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast does not indicate any heavy rain or hazardous weather conditions at this time.

However, Central Georgia is expected to receive between 2 and 4 inches of rain through Sunday, which could result in minor flooding.

In North Georgia, the rain may mix with or change to snow Saturday night through Sunday, but temperatures are expected to remain above freezing.

Snow accumulations of up to 2 inches are possible in elevations above 2,000 feet, but no accumulations are expected elsewhere.

The National Weather Service advises residents to stay informed about the latest weather conditions and to take necessary precautions to stay safe. At this time, no other hazardous weather is expected.
