Moore on top in Atlanta mayor’s race

With 95.8% of votes reported in Fulton County, Felicia Moore has 40% of the votes. The race for second place has tightened up with Kasim Reed holding 23.7% of the vote and Andre Dickens holding 22.6%. DeKalb County voters favor Dickens over Reed, but only a few votes have been counted there.

Cherokee County ESPLOST passes

Voters in Cherokee County overwhelmingly approved the Education SPLOST renewal. The measure passed with 75% of the vote. The Education SPLOST will fund projects including construction of the new/replacement Cherokee High School (near Teasley MS) and Free Home Elementary School (near the current campus); classroom additions at Creekview High School, Creekland Middle School, Woodstock High School and Oak Grove ES STEAM Academy; second gymnasiums and Creekview High School and River Ridge High School; and athletic facility improvements at Etowah High School and River Ridge High School.

Blythe has a new mayor

With all precincts reporting, Curt St. Germaine has unseated Phillip Lee Stewart for mayor. St. Germain got 143 votes and Stewart got 110 votes.

John Bradberry has 60% of the vote in Johns Creek

In the race for mayor of Johns Creek to replace founding mayor Mike Bodker, John Bradberry currently has 60% of the vote. Brian Weaver has 39%.

In the Post 1 City Council race, Dilip Tunki has 66.8% of the vote and Lee Heard Tucker has 33%. In Post 3, Bob Erramilli leads the pack with 57%.

In Post 5, Larry DiBiase has 63% of the vote and Pablo Cecere has 37%. In Post 2, Stacy L. Skinner has 59% of the vote and Rashmi Singh has 40%.

Early results come in for Cobb County

With just over 15% of precincts reporting, Mayor Steve Tumlin leads with 56% of the vote. Michelle Cooper Kelly has 43.8% of the vote.

In Ward 2 City Council, Grif Chalfant leads John Silvey with 64% of the vote. Only 892 votes have been counted so far.

In Ward 4 City Council with 33% of precincts reporting, Incumbent Andy Morris leads Ted Ferreira with 58.3% of the vote.

In Ward 5, M. Carlyle Kent leads the pack with 43%, though only 302 votes have been counted.

With 12.4% of precincts reporting countywide, 71% of voters have said “yes” to ESPLOST.


Sparks Mayor reelected

In Sparks, Mayor Earl Jackson will keep his seat. Jackson received 140 votes and Jimmie Lamb got 63 votes.


Dacula Mayor wins reelection

Dacula Mayor Hugh King III has won reelection. With 100% of precincts reporting, King had 309 votes and Wade Anthony had 165 votes.


Wilson leads in Roswell Mayor’s Race

In early results in Roswell, incumbent mayor Lori Henry is losing to Kurt Wilson. Wilson has 59% of the vote to Henry’s 34%. Jason Yowell has 6.6% of the vote.

In Roswell City Council races, Peter Vanstrom leads Incumbent Marie Wilsey with 58% of the vote,and William Morthland has a narrow lead over Michael Del Cerro and Yalonda Freeman for Post 5.

In Post 6, Lee Hills leads Incumbent Matt Judy with 57.9% of the vote.


Early results trickle in for Atlanta Mayor’s race

Early results for the Atlanta mayor’s race are starting to come in. With no precincts fully reporting, Felicia Moore leads the pack with 41.7% of the vote. Kasim Reed is second with 25.7%. Andre Dickens holds third with 20.68% of the vote. Only 33,113 votes have been counted so far.


Cairo elects new mayor — sort of

Voters in Cairo are sending Booker T. Gainor IV back to the mayor’s seat. Gainor was not reelected though as he resigned last year to run for higher office. He unseats incumbent mayor Howard Thrower III. Gainor received 719 votes to Thrower’s 659 votes.

Fulton officials report smooth Election Day Voting

Fulton County officials are reporting that there were no significant lines during voting today. According to Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts, there were some slight technical issues, but nothing he would classify as a problem with voting.

Results have yet to come in from Fulton County.

Liquor sales measure fails by one vote

In case you needed more evidence that every vote counts, a ballot measure in the city of Gray, Georgia to allow liquor sales within city limits failed by one vote.

There were 307 votes cast with 153 voters favoring liquor sales and 154 voters voting against the measure.


Technical issues in Stockbridge

Due to a technical error with voting equipment earlier this morning at a City voting precinct, the City of Stockbridge has requested by official judicial action for a voting extension for today’s election.


8 Cobb County precincts will stay open past 7 p.m.

Cobb County Superior Court Judge has ordered eight Cobb County election precincts to remain open past the scheduled 7 p.m. closing time.  The order comes after various issues caused the precincts to open late this morning for the municipal and ESPLOST election.

Elections officials say most of the delays were caused by minor technical issues that were quickly corrected.  The exception was the McEachern 01 precinct that was briefly evacuated due to a fire alarm in the building.

The order affects the following precincts:
