Fraternal Lodge No. 37, Free and Accepted Masons, presented a $3,000 donation on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to the Henry County Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS). The gift will provide foster families with clothing, bedding, hygiene items, and critical supplies like cribs and car seats for children entering care.

The check presentation took place during the Lodge’s regular meeting in McDonough. Families and foster parents were invited for dinner and fellowship before the presentation, then joined Lodge members in the Lodge room to share their stories and challenges.

“Children often enter the foster system with little more than the clothes on their backs,” said Worshipful Master Jim Robinson. “This donation reflects our Lodge’s commitment to relieving distress and supporting the most vulnerable in our community.”

Foster parent Joey Martin also shared his perspective:
“The first call is pretty scary because you don’t know what they’re going to come with. My first placement came straight out of the hospital with a onesie, a hat, and a blanket. Other than that, we didn’t have anything else for the child.”

Robinson emphasized that the Lodge’s fundraising, including proceeds from a recent fireworks stand in Jackson, made the contribution possible. “Those first 48 hours are pivotal,” he said. “We’re proud to link hands with our community and make sure foster kids and families are taken care of.”

Henry County currently has more than 70 children in foster care. Many arrive in emergencies, and DFCS says that immediate access to supplies helps foster parents focus on care, rather than last-minute shopping.

Chartered in 1844, Fraternal Lodge No. 37 has been a cornerstone of the McDonough community for more than 180 years. The Lodge is dedicated to the Masonic values of brotherly love, relief, and truth, and continues to support local families through service and charitable acts.
