How Georgians can prioritize mental health
It’s no secret that we are facing a mental health crisis in Georgia. According to the National Alliance on Mental Health, more than 1.4 million adults in Georgia have a mental health condition – more than twice the population of Atlanta. In the past year alone, 1,569 Georgians lost their lives to suicide and 314,000 adults report having suicidal thoughts.
To increase awareness about mental health while decreasing the stigma that can be associated with seeking help, May has been designated as Mental Health Awareness Month.
Dr. Minh Nguyen, medical director for CareSource Georgia, is available to submit a non-promotional byline and do interviews about the importance of mental health and well-being and what Georgians can do to prioritize their mental health.
Specifically, Dr. Nguyen can speak on:
Relational health, developing connections with others, and the role it can play in mental health.
Social determinants of health and their impact on mental health.
Resources for Georgians experiencing mental health issues, including how their health plan can provide support.
Practical tips for improving mental health including the connection to physical health.
Please let me know if you are interested in speaking with Dr. Nguyen, and I’d be happy to arrange an interview.
