SAVANNAH -- A robbery attempt at a pizza restaurant in Savannah was thwarted by an employee who police say returned the suspect's fire.

SAVANNAH — A robbery attempt at a pizza restaurant in Savannah was thwarted by an employee who police say returned the suspect’s fire.

Police say officers responded to Donatos Pizza at about 9:40 p.m. September 11 on a report of an attempted armed robbery and shots fired.

According to the Savannah Police Department, preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Joseph Osborne entered the store and presented a firearm. Police say he fired shots at the employees prompting one of the employees to return fire, striking Osborne. None of the employees were injured.

When officers arrived, Osborne was located and transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police say further investigation revealed that 21-year-old Andreall Taylor was involved in the incident. She was arrested and charged with party to the crime of murder and armed robbery.
