Fulton County now has more than 2,000 confirmed coronavirus cases

As of today's noon COVID-19 status update from the Georgia Department of Public Health, Fulton County has surpassed 2,000 cases of coronavirus and Gwinnett County has become the fifth county in Georgia with more than 1,000 confirmed coronavirus cases.

As of today’s noon COVID-19 status update from the Georgia Department of Public Health, Fulton County has surpassed 2,000 cases of coronavirus and Gwinnett County has become the fifth county in Georgia with more than 1,000 confirmed coronavirus cases.

Fulton is the first county in Georgia to reach the 2,000 case mark. It is also the first county to have a reported case of coronavirus and is Georgia’s largest county. Fulton has 2,025 confirmed cases and 73 deaths.

Gwinnett now has 1,017 confirmed cases and 36 deaths from the virus, making it the fifth county to reach the 1,000 case mark.

Statewide, Georgia has 17,194 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 3,324 hospitalizations. In Georgia, 650 people have died from the virus, making the state’s death rate 3.78%, slightly higher than the 3% rate first reported when COVID-19 began spreading internationally.

Georgia has now processed a total of 71,684 tests.

The five counties with more than 1,000 cases are Fulton with 2,025, Dougherty, with 1,381, DeKalb with 1,349, Cobb with 1,072 and Gwinnett with 1,017.
