Meet The New Principals at Creekland Middle and Duluth High

Gwinnett County schools will see new leadership at Creekland Middle School and Duluth High School. Tyese M. Scott and Cynthia “Cindy” A. Kinchen bring extensive experience and dedication to their new roles as principals.

Tyese M. Scott to Lead Creekland Middle School

Tyese M. Scott has been named the new principal of Creekland Middle School, succeeding Kimberly Gillette, who is retiring. Scott moves to Creekland after serving as the principal of McKendree Elementary School since 2017.

Scott’s career in education spans nearly three decades. She began as a teacher in Wayne County Schools, Goldsboro, N.C., and has held several positions including assistant principal and principal across multiple schools in North Carolina and Georgia. In Gwinnett County, she has served as assistant principal at Nesbit Elementary School and principal at Patrick Elementary School before her role at McKendree.

Scott holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She is also a graduate of the 2011 Quality Plus-Leader Academy, Aspiring Principal Program, Cohort 5.

Cynthia “Cindy” A. Kinchen to Helm Duluth High School

Cynthia “Cindy” A. Kinchen will take over as the principal of Duluth High School, replacing Dr. Eric Davidson, who has been promoted to cluster superintendent. Kinchen transitions to Duluth High from her role as principal of Duluth Middle School, a position she has held since 2020.

Kinchen’s career with Gwinnett County schools includes roles as a special education teacher and department chair at Norcross High School, and as assistant principal at Summerour Middle School and Duluth High School. She also served briefly as assistant principal at McClure Health Science High School before becoming principal at Duluth Middle.

Kinchen holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in special education from Florida International University, and a specialist degree in educational leadership from Georgia State University. She is a graduate of the 2021 Quality-Plus Leader Academy, Aspiring Principal Program, Cohort 14.
