The Hall County Animal Shelter is helping connect pets with new families throughout February with its “Shelter Speed Dating” initiative, offering potential adopters a chance to spend quality time with adoptable dogs before making a commitment.
“‘Shelter Speed Dating’ is an amazing opportunity for people looking to adopt or simply spend the day with one of our adoptable dogs,” Hall County Animal Shelter Manager Stephanie Maloch said. “There is no better way to get to know one of our animals than by spending one-on-one, quality time with each other outside of the shelter so you can better determine whether you are a perfect match.”
One way to participate is through the shelter’s “Doggy Day Out” program, which allows registered volunteers to take a dog out for the day. The program helps socialize the animals and increases their chances of finding a permanent home.
“For those seeking a more long-term bonding experience, we recommend participating in our ‘Foster to Adopt’ program,” Maloch said. “This program allows you to temporarily bring a shelter pet into your home, with the option to adopt once the relationship is established between the pet and potential pet owner.”
To participate in either program, volunteers and fosters must register and meet the shelter’s requirements.
