{"id":9854,"date":"2019-06-17T17:17:37","date_gmt":"2019-06-17T21:17:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=9854"},"modified":"2023-09-24T15:40:28","modified_gmt":"2023-09-24T19:40:28","slug":"freaknik-is-back-and-it-starts-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=9854","title":{"rendered":"Freaknik is back and it starts Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ATLANTA &#8212; It&#8217;s been 20 years, but Freaknik is coming back to Atlanta June 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival that was known as black spring break in the 90s is back this summer with a massive lineup of talent and events fit to welcome back hip-hop\u2019s favorite festival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guests can expect performances from rap favorites including Uncle Luke, Bun B, Juvenile, Da Brat, Foxy Brown, Trina, Ying Yang Twins, Pastor Troy, Lil\u2019 Bankhead, DJ Unk, and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s this year&#8217;s lineup:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday, June 20: The weekend kicks off at 10:00pm with \u201cI Love the 90s,\u201d an open bar party at\u00a0Aurum Lounge.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday, June 21: Freaknik collaborates with TrapNPaint for an adults-only painting experience at\u00a0Pin N Proper. Happy hour kicks off at 5 p.m. with food and drink specials, DJ, and games. The night continues at Suite Lounge for the official Freaknik kickoff party with V103. Attendees with Freaknik tickets enjoy free admission until 1 a.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saturday, June 22: Freaknik and Streetz 94.5 are doing\u00a0 good with a community service cleanup from 9 a.m.  to noon including a live DJ, complimentary food (with RSVP), ticket giveaways, and more. Freaknik performances begin at 1:00pmat Cellairis Amphitheatre followed by the official after party at Mansion Elan (3595 Clairmont Rd) at 1:00am.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sunday, June 23: Brunch gets an elevated experience with the CannaBrunch Freakshow from Noon to 5 p.m. Guests will enjoy infused treats, hookah, live DJ, and brunch menu at a secret location. Closing out the weekend is the official Freaknik Day Party at Lava Lounge from 5 p.m. to Midnight. All Freaknik ticket holders are admitted free until 6 p.m. with RSVP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tickets are still available for the concert and surrounding events.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To purchase tickets and RSVP to events, visit\u00a0freaknikfest.com\/events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Freaknik began as a small picnic in 1983, but took off in the 90s as a streetfest that brought more than 200,000 people to <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"\/city\/Atlanta\"   title=\"Atlanta\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Atlanta<\/a>.
