{"id":7936,"date":"2019-02-11T20:32:56","date_gmt":"2019-02-12T01:32:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=7936"},"modified":"2023-09-24T15:38:37","modified_gmt":"2023-09-24T19:38:37","slug":"factory-atlanta-will-host-art-crush-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=7936","title":{"rendered":"Factory Atlanta will host Art Crush this weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/burnaway.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BURNAWAY, the Voice of Art in the South,<\/a>&nbsp;is hosting its 10 year anniversary celebration and annual fundraiser&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/e.givesmart.com\/events\/bTG\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Art Crush<\/a>on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, from 7:30-10 p.m., with a VIP preview for Host Committee and VIP ticket holders starting at 6 p.m. The evening\u2019s festivities will take place at the recently opened&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.factoryatlanta.events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Factory Atlanta<\/a>&nbsp;in Chamblee, a trending, rapidly&nbsp;growing&nbsp;neighborhood just steps from Atlanta\u2019s multicultural nexus Buford Highway. The unique location has inspired this year&#8217;s theme: Year of the Pig, which draws connections between the 2019 Lunar New Year and one of the South&#8217;s most beloved cultural exports, barbeque, as a way of celebrating intersections between immigrant cultures and the American South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Honorary Chair for the event is artist and Chamblee resident Jiha Moon, one of the most celebrated and widely known contemporary artists working in Atlanta today, who has been an avid supporter of BURNAWAY. Serving as emcees for the evening will be drag&nbsp;performers&nbsp;and musicians Taylor Alxndr and Mystery Meat.&nbsp; During the evening guests will enjoy delicious dishes from Bantam &amp; Biddy inspired by Lunar New Year festivities and the Year of the Pig. Signature cocktails for the party will be crafted by mixologist Navarro Carr of the Sound Table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specializing in international vintage funk and dance music, DJ Yoon Nam, will provide the soundtrack to the evening. To commemorate their experience, guests are encouraged to bring home a piece of art at a variety of price points, with opportunities to purchase pieces from exciting emerging and established talent from throughout the Southeast during a silent auction, as well as during a live auction of bespoke art-filled experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auction experiences range from a custom dinner party and bourbon tasting with artist Michi Meko to a private viewing of highlights from the High Museum\u2019s photography collection with curator Greg Harris and\u00a0artist Jill Frank\u00a0followed by a personal beer tasting at Monday Night Brewing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Live printmaking of exclusive limited-edition prints for Art Crush 2019 will be taking place, and guests can take in special installations by Sonya Yong James, Jordan Stubbs, Jane Garver Foley, and Rachel Ballard. The party will continue after hours at Karaoke Medley 2 at 7130 Buford Highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/e.givesmart.com\/events\/bTG\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tickets for Art Crush<\/a>&nbsp;are available for general admission at $40, Host Committee for $175-$350 and Table Sponsorships (including VIP tickets for 8 guests) for $1,200.
