Let&#8217;s journey back in time to explore some key moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">18th Century: War and Revolution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In <strong>1781<\/strong>, the state witnessed a significant event during the American Revolutionary War. Major military engagements included the seizure of Augusta from the British on June 5th by Elijah Clarke and others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">19th Century: War and Innovation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the midst of the Civil War in <strong>June 1863<\/strong>, Confederate flag officer Josiah Tattnall lost the ironclad Atlanta while attempting to break the Union blockade.
