Atlanta City Council member Andrea Boone wants to help Atlanta residents clear misdemeanors off their criminal histories. She is co-hosting the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Legacy Expungement Bowl Jan. 25 with Fulton County Solicitor General Keith Gammage and the Georgia Justice Project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The free event is both an opportunity for misdemeanor record forgiveness and a second chance job fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“One misdemeanor can be life-altering. It could mean denied applications both for college admissions and jobs. Every week, I run across someone struggling to find work because of one regrettable decision. Everyone deserves a second chance,\u201d Boone said. \u201cThis expungement bowl provides a judgement-free zone and an opportunity for a clean slate. I’m honored to join with Solicitor General Gammage for this very positive and impactful event.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe civil rights movement continues today by ending mass incarcerations and creating new beginnings for jobs and safer communities,\u201d Gammage added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The MLK, Jr. holiday legacy expungement bowl will be held at the C.T. Martin Recreation Center, 3201 M.L. King, Jr. Drive SW, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 25. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
