{"id":6839,"date":"2018-11-14T17:50:45","date_gmt":"2018-11-14T22:50:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=6839"},"modified":"2019-03-18T17:15:57","modified_gmt":"2019-03-18T21:15:57","slug":"georgia-secretary-of-state-responds-to-court-order-to-count-provisional-ballots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=6839","title":{"rendered":"Georgia Secretary of State responds to court order to count provisional ballots"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In response to a court order handed down Tuesday requiring the Georgia Secretary of State&#8217;s office to extend the deadline to certify votes and to expand its efforts to count provisional ballots, Georgia&#8217;s new secretary of state, Robyn Crittenden announced that the office is complying with the court order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a Wednesday news release, Crittenden said she has taken the following actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Established and publicized a toll-free hotline \u2013 1-844-537-5375 \u2013 and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/sendy.sos.ga.gov\/sendy\/l\/5InPwt50suTWKpyibfrBsQ\/lxa0B2wVVscqYTMk98w7630Q\/rd3J1uHUajxrIgGeyxifWQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accompanying website<\/a>&nbsp;for voters to check the status of the their provisional ballots cast in the November 6, 2018 election;<\/li><li>Directed all 159 county election superintendents to similarly publicize the availability of the state\u2019s hotline and website on county and county election websites;<\/li><li>Directed counties with 100 or more provisional ballots to engage in a \u201cgood faith\u201d review of voters\u2019 eligibility for those who cast provisional ballots coded \u201cPR\u201d (not registered to vote) using all available registration documentation, including information provided by the voter through the time of the review; and<\/li><li>Produced information in her possession responsive to the Court\u2019s Order and sought to obtain additional information from county election superintendents.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Secretary of State\u2019s toll-free hotline is 1-844-537-5375.&nbsp;<\/strong>This public access system is publicized on an&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/sendy.sos.ga.gov\/sendy\/l\/5InPwt50suTWKpyibfrBsQ\/lxa0B2wVVscqYTMk98w7630Q\/rd3J1uHUajxrIgGeyxifWQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accompanying website<\/a>, and there is a banner on&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/sendy.sos.ga.gov\/sendy\/l\/5InPwt50suTWKpyibfrBsQ\/cudxh88N4C6021U34Q763Cvw\/rd3J1uHUajxrIgGeyxifWQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sos.ga.gov<\/a>&nbsp;stating \u201cClick Here to Check Your Provisional Ballot Status in the Nov. 6, 2018 Election.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In response to a court order handed down Tuesday requiring the Georgia Secretary of State&#8217;s office to extend the deadline to certify votes and to expand its efforts to count provisional ballots, Georgia&#8217;s new secretary of state, Robyn Crittenden announced that the office is complying with the court order.
