The Scoop: <\/strong>MARTA<\/a> has named a new General Manager and CEO, but the transit system will have to wait a mandatory 14-day waiting period to vote to confirm the offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MARTA Board of Directors\u2019 GM\/CEO Search Committee voted to advance interim\u00a0GM\/CEO Collie Greenwood as the sole finalist for the permanent position.\u00a0State law requires the 14-day waiting period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Search:<\/strong> A nationwide search, conducted by Krauthamer & Associates, identified 11 candidates with varying backgrounds in transportation and other business sectors.\u00a0The Search Committee, chaired by MARTA Board Chair Rita Scott, interviewed five candidates and concluded that Greenwood is the best fit for MARTA.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is Collie Greenwood?:<\/strong> A former bus operator, Greenwood rose through the ranks over 30 years to serve as Chief Service Officer with the Toronto Transit Commission, the third largest\u00a0transit system in North America.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greenwood joined MARTA in July 2019 as Chief of Bus Operations and Urban Planning.\u00a0In January 2021, Greenwood was named Deputy General Manager of Operations where he oversaw\u00a0all bus and rail operations and helped develop and deliver major capital projects aimed at enhancing the customer experience, including the largest in MARTA\u2019s history, the procurement of new railcars, and the addition of electric buses to MARTA\u2019s fleet.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greenwood was named interim GM\/CEO in January<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
