{"id":40207,"date":"2022-09-03T16:39:56","date_gmt":"2022-09-03T20:39:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=40207"},"modified":"2022-09-03T16:47:13","modified_gmt":"2022-09-03T20:47:13","slug":"77-year-old-georgia-man-shot-and-killed-by-law-enforcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=40207","title":{"rendered":"77-year-old Georgia man shot and killed by law enforcement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A 77-year-old <a href=\"\/tag\/Baldwin-County\">Baldwin County<\/a> man is dead after law enforcement officials say he pointed a shotgun at a Baldwin County deputy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, preliminary information indicates that on Friday, Sept. 2, at 11:31 p.m., a Baldwin County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputy responded to a domestic dispute on Union Hill Church Road after multiple 911 calls from the home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheriff&#8217;s officials say when the deputy&nbsp;entered the home, he and other occupants were approached 77-year-old Tommie Gilmore, who carried a shotgun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the GBI, the deputy gave Gilmore commands to drop the gun, but Gilmore pointed the shotgun at the deputy. The deputy shot Gilmore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gilmore was taken to Atrium&nbsp;Health Navicent Hospital in Milledgeville, where he died. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gilmore lived at the home. The GBI Medical Examiner\u2019s Office will conduct an autopsy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GBI will conduct an independent investigation.
