{"id":36858,"date":"2022-06-20T08:37:23","date_gmt":"2022-06-20T12:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=36858"},"modified":"2022-06-20T08:37:58","modified_gmt":"2022-06-20T12:37:58","slug":"fire-destroys-home-in-lilburn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=36858","title":{"rendered":"Fire destroys home in Lilburn"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"\/tag\/lilburn\">LILBURN<\/a> &#8212; Firefighters responded at 7:27 p.m. Sunday evening to a neighbor\u2019s report of\u00a0a house fire on Ridgewood Drive in Lilburn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 911 caller advised they could see smoke coming from the home. The caller told 911 one person was seen exiting the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On arrival, crews saw a single-story, single-family residence on a crawl space with heavy\u00a0fire on the back side of the house and flames venting through the roof. Firefighters initiated a defensive fire attack, deploying multiple hose lines to control the bulk of the flames and protect exposures on each side of the home. An aerial platform was also\u00a0put into operation to knock down flames in the attic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the fire was knocked down, crews made entry and extinguished the remaining hot spots. A primary and secondary search of the home confirmed there were no victims inside. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Utilities to the home were secured.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the <a href=\"\/tag\/Gwinnett-County\">Gwinnett County<\/a> Fire Department, the\u00a0fire was brought under control in about 50 minutes with 25 firefighters on scene. While the blaze caused extensive damage throughout the home, firefighters prevented damage to nearby homes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An adult male occupant reported smelling smoke in home and noticed flames on the back side of\u00a0the house. He was able to exit the home safely and make it to a neighbor\u2019s house for help. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The occupant was displaced due to the damage and refused assistance from the American Red Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fire Investigators responded to the scene for origin and cause determination. Investigators determined the fire originated on the back side of the house with the cause undetermined and under investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Firefighters encourage all residents to stay safe this summer.
