{"id":36401,"date":"2022-06-06T10:23:30","date_gmt":"2022-06-06T14:23:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=36401"},"modified":"2023-10-10T16:35:19","modified_gmt":"2023-10-10T20:35:19","slug":"georgia-leader-headed-to-ukraine-with-medical-supplies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=36401","title":{"rendered":"A Georgia Leader is Headed to Ukraine with Medical Supplies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Emory Morsberger,\u00a0president of the <a href=\"\/tag\/Tucker\">Tucker<\/a> Summit Community Improvement District of Greater\u00a0Atlanta, will be traveling to Romania, with surgical-grade medical instruments, Stryker Drill Sets and wound care materials desperately needed to support the relief effort from the war in <a href=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/2022\/02\/28\/impact-of-ukraine-attack-felt-in-georgia-community\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"33330\">Ukraine<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The appeal for urgent aide came from Rotary International&#8217;s Medical Emergency Committee for Ukraine&#8217;s co-chair Dr. Olha Paliychuk. Through her Rotary work, Dr. Paliychuk\u2019s plea eventually made its way to <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"\/city\/Atlanta\" title=\"Atlanta\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Atlanta<\/a> and fellow Rotarian, Christopher Brand,\u00a0President and CEO of Friends\u00a0of Disabled Adults and Children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brand\u2019s 501(c)3 non-profit organization specializes in refurbishing and distributing home medical equipment to those who are mobility-impaired, so he knew that he possessed the network to acquire\u00a0the supplies but still needed help delivering them to the frontlines.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a member of the Tucker Summit CID, Brand and Morsberger had a longstanding relationship improving services within their CID, but never had a need or opportunity presented itself such as this\u00a0unique request from halfway around the world. Brand needed help.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen Chris first called and explained what\u00a0he was working on, I couldn\u2019t get the word \u2018yes\u2019 out quick enough; yes, we\u2019ll do whatever we can to help; I\u2019ll write a check myself if necessary, and, yes, I will personally deliver the tools if that\u2019s what is needed,&#8221; Morsberger said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Morsberger plans to fly to Istanbul en route to Suceava, Romania to join Radu Zernoveanu Sr., whose son is also a member of the Rotary Club in Buckhead, and who shared Dr.\u00a0Paliychuk\u2019s request with Brand, initiating this nearly 5,000-mile relay.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey took my offer of personal delivery quite literally. So when that need arose, how could I say no?\u201d Morsberger said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Morsberger has now received all of the necessary vaccinations and travel accommodations to depart during the first week of June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presenting the medical materials in\u00a0person will first coincide with meeting of Radu\u2019s Rotary Club on June 10.
