ROSWELL<\/a> — It was a bad night for incumbents in Roswell’s city elections Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incumbent mayor Lori Henry was voted out of office and voters gave Kurt Wilson the nod, with 60% of the vote in a three person race. Henry received 33.6% of the vote and Jason Yowell received 6.2% of the votes. There were a total of 15,746 votes cast for mayor. Voter turnout was just over 21%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilson ran on a platform of addressing lingering development and traffic issues and was among the critics of the city’s handling of the Oxbo Road project, which became a major issue in the mayor’s race and in the Roswell city council races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In city council races where an incumbent was running, the incumbents lost across the board. In the Post 4 race, Peter Vanstrom defeated incumbent Marie Wilsey, garnering 58% of the vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Post 6, Lee Hills defeated incumbent Matt Judy with 56% of the vote. The Post 5 council race did not have an incumbent running and heads to a runoff between Michael Del Cerro and William Morthland. Del Cerro was slightly ahead with 38.2% of the vote to Morthland’s 37.7%. Yalonda Freeman got 23% of the vote in that race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
