In her court filing, Powell said &#8220;no reasonable person would conclude&#8221; that her statements were &#8220;truly statements of fact.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raffensperger responded to the ideas expressed in Powell&#8217;s filing in a statement released on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Raffensperger&#8217;s Statement:<\/strong> You can read Raffensperger&#8217;s statement in its entirety below. Here is what the <a href=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/2018\/03\/19\/georgia-government-101-what-does-georgias-secretary-of-state-do\/\">Georgia Secretary of State<\/a> had to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Kraken lawyer Sidney Powell admitted in a&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sable.madmimi.com\/c\/340928?id=101270.2886.1.1bff0aeaa14ae54dfafd9dd23cfbe845\">filing<\/a>&nbsp;in federal court that \u201cno reasonable person would conclude that [her] statements were truly statements of fact.\u201d Powell made the filing in response to a defamation suit from Dominion <a href=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/2019\/12\/12\/how-will-georgias-new-voting-system-work\/\">Voting Systems<\/a> in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.<\/p><p>\u201cIn the face of legal action, Sidney Powell admitted that her effort to make millions lying to the American people had no facts to begin with,\u201d said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. \u201cWhile the loss of the Senate due to her lies will have ramifications for years, I most sympathize with those who believed her in the first place and who she now considers not reasonable enough to realize she should not have been taken seriously.\u201d<\/p><p>Powell made her admission in a&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sable.madmimi.com\/c\/340928?id=101270.2887.1.73f093eb51d074232bbeb89919be1c2d\">filing<\/a>&nbsp;in Dominion\u2019s $1.3 billion lawsuit against her for defamation. Powell and her lawyers acknowledge regarding the allegedly defamatory statements regarding Dominion <a href=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/2020\/03\/06\/georgia-election-officials-will-have-a-public-hearing-on-athens-clarke-countys-decision-to-suspend-use-of-new-voting-system\/\">Voting Systems<\/a>, \u201cno reasonable person would conclude that [her] statements were truly statements of fact.\u201d In other words, she does not consider those who believe her voter <a href=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/2020\/11\/30\/georgia-elections-chief-dismisses-fraud-claims-despite-trumps-attacks\/\">fraud claims<\/a> \u201creasonable.\u201d<\/p><p>The filing says that the claims Powell made in interviews on Fox News and Fox Business, and in a press conference at the Republican National Committee are not statements of fact.
