{"id":24365,"date":"2021-03-16T09:46:18","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T13:46:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=24365"},"modified":"2023-09-24T15:54:03","modified_gmt":"2023-09-24T19:54:03","slug":"what-is-atlantas-favorite-dog-breed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=24365","title":{"rendered":"What is Atlanta&#8217;s favorite dog breed?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This past year, The French Bulldog took over Atlanta\u2019s top spot in the American Kennel Club\u2019s 2020 ranking of the most popular AKC-recognized dog breeds in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The French Bulldog was also recognized as the No. 1 pup in Chicago and Dallas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the Frenchie moved up to the top spot, Atlanta\u2019s top five favorite breeds remain the same as last year. Last year the Dachshund rounded out the top 10 breeds, but this year fell two spots to 12<sup>th<\/sup> place. Although it fell out of the top ranks, it shows promise that it may return to the top 10 in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"\/city\/Atlanta\"   title=\"Atlanta\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Atlanta<\/a> remains loyal to the same top five breeds, but there are a couple of new fan favorites to keep an eye on.\u201d said AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo. \u201cThe Doberman rounds out the top 10 breeds this year, and the Rottweiler joins its working group companion in 7<sup>th<\/sup> place jumping five spots from last year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Atlanta\u2019s top 5 breeds for 2020:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. French Bulldogs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Labrador Retrievers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Golden Retrievers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. German Shepherd Dogs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Poodles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>* <\/em><\/strong><em>Registration data pulled from Atlanta\u2019s zip codes as specified by U.S. Postal Service<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AKC also announced its nationwide rankings today at the AKC Museum of the Dog in NYC. The <strong>Labrador Retriever <\/strong>celebrates a milestone!&nbsp; The loveable Lab remains the number one most popular breed in the United States for the 30<sup>th<\/sup> year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the Lab holds firmly to the top spot, the French Bulldog has continued to skyrocket in popularity. The Frenchie landed at number two in 2020, knocking the German Shepherd Dog down to third.
